## 1. Scope and ownership

These terms apply to the proprietary Portlane application, including its original artwork and accompanying documentation (the "Software"), made available by its copyright holder through official distribution channels. The Software is licensed, not sold. Its source code is not provided, and this is not an open-source license.

## 2. Free use

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to download official copies, install and run the Software on compatible Macs for your own personal purposes or your organization's internal business use, free of charge. You may make private backup copies for those purposes. This permission does not authorize offering the Software to others as a product or service.

## 3. Restrictions

Without the copyright holder's prior written permission, you must not:

- Sell, resell, rent, sublicense, or charge for the Software or copies of it.
- Distribute, publicly host, mirror, share installers or application copies, bundle, or repackage the Software, whether for payment or free of charge.

These restrictions concern the Software, not the files you manage with it. You may share links to the official download page rather than redistribute copies.

## 4. Donations

Donations are optional. They do not purchase the Software, ownership, additional license rights, a subscription, guaranteed support, or a promise of future features. Use of the Software does not require a donation.

## 5. Third-party components and mandatory rights

Third-party libraries and components are governed by their respective licenses and notices supplied with the application. This license does not replace or restrict rights granted by those licenses. No term limits rights that cannot be waived or restricted under applicable law.

Public repository materials remain subject to the limited rights required by GitHub's Terms of Service for hosting, viewing, and forking repository content on GitHub. Those rights do not grant a license to redistribute the proprietary application or access its private source code.

## 6. Disclaimer and liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Software is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Availability, uninterrupted operation, and preservation of data are not guaranteed. Maintain appropriate backups before changing remote files.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the copyright holder is not liable for loss of data, profits, or other direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of or inability to use the Software. This does not exclude liability or statutory consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

## 7. Termination

The permissions granted by this license terminate if you fail to comply with its terms. In that event, stop using the Software and delete your copies, except where retention is required by law.
